Nationaal Theater (Praag) in Praag

Het Nationaal Theater (Tsjechisch: Národní Divadlo), gelegen in de Nieuwe Stad van Praag, is het meest bekende theater van Tsjechië. Het theater, dat bestaat uit de afdelingen opera, ballet en drama, speelde een belangrijke rol in de Tsjechische nationale wedergeboorte.

De bouw van het theater begon in 1868. Op 11 juni 1881 werd het gebouw officieel geopend door Rudolf van Oostenrijk.

Gorgeous theater. If your jet lag can handle being in a dark room, check out a show here. The second level balcony has an outdoor terrace that is perfect to watch the sunset over Prague Castle.

Easy to buy tickets, easy to find everything. Comfortable to sit and wait in the cafe just one floor down from where the plays are set. Free wifi. Ok coffee. Nice lemonades! Older sandwiches. Ok cakes

I was a bit sad there is no English translation of the plays, though if you attend opera or ballet it doesn't matter. The place is stunning and the experience overwhelms, totally recommend it!
